Welcome to Immanuel Lutheran Church!
Immanuel Lutheran Church has been serving the Brownton community since 1895. As a member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), we are committed to sharing Christ’s love through faithful worship, comprehensive Christian education, and compassionate service. Our congregation is a warm, welcoming family of believers dedicated to growing in faith together and reaching out to our community with the message of Jesus Christ.

Who can partake in the sacrament of Communion?
The LCMS believes Scripture teaches the Lord’s Supper is a precious gift of God in which Christ gives us His true body and blood (in a miraculous way), together with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith.
Because the Bible teaches that this Sacrament may also be spiritually harmful if misused and that participation in the Lord’s Supper is an act of confession of faith, the LCMS ordinarily communes only those who have been instructed in the teachings of our church and who have confessed their faith in these teachings.

What to Expect
At Immanuel Lutheran Church, we worship using the Lutheran Service Book. Our services rotate through different Divine Services each Sunday, including a custom service created by Pastor Reed that highlights the teachings from the Catechism.
The choir sings at least one Sunday per month, and we often have a variety of special music at services throughout the year. After some services, different organizations like Ladies’ Aid, will service coffee and fellowship time in the church basement.
What We Believe
With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God:
- the Father, creator of all that exists;
- Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and
- the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments.
The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Our congregation accepts and preaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized into three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

Christian Education Opportunities
We believe in lifelong learning and offer educational opportunities for all ages. This includes Sunday School for children, Bible Study for adults, and Confirmation classes for 5th-8th grade students of members. These programs help deepen our understanding of Scripture and Lutheran doctrine.
Accessibility and Parking
We have a large parking lot and ample on-street parking available for your convenience. Our church is also equipped with an elevator providing easy access to the narthex, sanctuary, and church basement.
Join Us Online
If you can’t make it in person, we invite you to access the livestream online. Although we would love to meet you and your family at a service in person, this is a great way to get familiar with our worship style. We look forward to welcoming you to Immanuel Lutheran Church!
Membership
How do I join an LCMS congregation?
Pastors of LCMS congregations typically conduct a series of instruction/membership classes on a regular basis for adults interested in joining the congregation or learning more about what The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod believes.
The length and nature of these classes varies from congregation to congregation, so those wishing to join an LCMS church are encouraged to speak with the pastor of the church.
For those who come from a Lutheran (non-LCMS) background, these classes serve as a kind of “refresher” course in Lutheran doctrine and as a way of clarifying the differences between the LCMS and other Lutherans. For those coming from other denominations, these classes provide a thorough overview of the LCMS’ central and foundational teachings and beliefs.
