Thing to remember as we enter Christmas Season:
It begins with evening prayer on Christmas Eve (December 24th). It ends with a midday prayer on January 5th.
The Nativity of Our Lord: Christmas Season
The evening services on Christmas Eve begin the church’s celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord. The joyous season continues after December 25th with the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas, highlighting key festivals:
December 26: The Festival of Stephen, the first martyr.
December 27: St. John, Apostle and Evangelist.
December 28: The Festival of the Holy Innocents, remembering the children lost in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:16–18).
January 1: The Circumcision and Naming of Jesus, marking the eighth day after His birth (Luke 2:21).
This season reflects on the profound mystery and joy of Christ’s incarnation, extending our celebration of His birth into the New Year.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:14
